Rescuing a Mystery Creature with Big Paws: The Unexpected Find of a Good Samaritan

A couple of weeks back, Mathieu Patry from Quebec, Canada was heading to his job one morning when he stumbled upon a small creature that resembled a kitten. Upon approaching it, he was taken aback by what he found.

Mathieu Patry found himself in a serendipitous encounter while walking down a forested path. Spotting a small, furry creature on the side of the trail, he initially mistook it for a kitten. Upon closer inspection, he noticed its oversized paws and round ears, leading him to identify it as a Canadian Lynx.

Uncertain whether the Lynx had been orphaned or simply separated from its mother, Mathieu opted to leave the animal where he found it, hoping for a reunion with its parent. Despite continuing on with his day, the image of the Lynx stayed with him, lingering in his thoughts.

Mathieu Patry shared, “The following day, I returned to check on the small Lynx and could still hear his cries in the distance.” After waiting a bit longer, Mathieu realized it was necessary for him to step in. He was concerned that the Lynx kitten wouldn’t make it on his own. Mathieu believed that the kitten was likely the runt of the litter, which led to his mother abandoning him.

Mathieu Patry discovered the Lynx near a tree, picked him up, and brought him to his house. “I reached out to a wildlife rehabilitation specialist at a nearby zoo for assistance,” Mathieu explained.

Mathieu Patry reached out to the specialists who provided him with guidelines on how to feed and look after the Lynx for the day. Throughout the night, Mathieu carefully monitored the well-being of the young Lynx to ensure its safety.

Mathieu Patry shared with Love Meow, “The following day, I brought him to the zoo.” It was discovered that the lynx was quite young and wouldn’t have survived much longer on his own. Thanks to the assistance of rehabbers, the lynx is now progressing well and on the road to recovery. Once he is fully healed, he will be reintroduced back into the wilderness.
